Summer School

SLY Dance first presented the "SLY Dance Summer School" in 2003 and it has been an annual event every since. The children register at the beginning of the school summer holidays and can attend the school for up to three days each week. The summer school gives all students the opportunity to learn more about their favourite dance styles, gives structured learning and fun during the school holidays and of course, gives Mums and Dads a little time off during those long 6 weeks!!

Each student is asked to bring their own packed lunch for the day and plenty of fluids to keep themselves hydrated. Although the children don't have to attend every day of the summer school, the main parts of each particular play will be given to those who can attend regularly to give them time enough to prepare. The last week of the summer school is also as important as there are run throughs of the final performance and costume fittings etc.

Even if your child isn't able to or doesn't wish to perform in the end show, they are still more than welcome to attend throughout the summer for the classes.

Sharing Performance

The SLY Dance students work hard each year learning new routines and improving on their dance technique and style. They all revel in the opportunity to perform to others at this annual show.

This show is always a well attended event and all the students who dance at SLY Dance take part. As well as street and jazz dancing, some students bring other areas of their expertise to the show, such as ballet and tap dancing, singing and drama. Dancers who participated in the Summer School perform one or two of their acts from the summer performance and one year we had an up-and-coming poet perform.
